Applying to graduate school and entering my first year of a doctoral
program was a scary and confusing time for me. I don't know if I would
have been able to do it without the help of some great professors and
graduate students. When I was asked by a professor to be a graduate
mentor in the IE Pre-Grad Internship program, I thought it would be
a great opportunity to be that person for someone else.
Together we assisted in a research project from designing the experiment through executing it. Because of this experience, my mentee is planning to pursue a research degree. This process has been so rewarding for me, in more ways than I expected. Through the IE program, my mentee and I were able to obtain partial funding to go to a conference in Portland Oregon to present our research to some of the leading experts in our field. I am so impressed by her effort and proud to be a part of her experience.
