Philosophy Pre-Grad Intern Daniel Munoz
Daniel was awarded the Hibbs Scholarship in philosophy. "I have to give IE much of the credit," notes Daniel. "Without IE, I wouldn't have become so integrated into the philosophy department or so eager to study. IE was an eye-opening experience-for the first time in my life, I was seriously thinking about what would happen after graduation, and it was clear how much work I had to do to get into graduate school. Since then, I've been awarded a Hibbs Scholarship, gotten my GPA up, and laid out a plan for grad school applications this fall. In addition, through an IE Travel Grant my mentor and I were able to attend the "Toward a Science of Consciousness" conference, where I met Dr. Dave Chalmers, a distinguished philosophy professor and Director of the Centre for Consciousness at the Australian National University. What more could a guy ask for?"
In the words of David Sosa, chair of UT's Philosophy Department, "Daniel is a great example of an intellectual entrepreneur. He's totally engaged, super smart, and deeply invested in his own intellectual development-he's likely our very best undergraduate student. We're grateful for the support provided by the IE program."
