“IE gave me the structure and funding to work on my first serious research project at UT. Working in the lab of Marie Monfils (with graduate student Dong-Oh Seo, my IE graduate mentor) was where I first fell in love with neuroscience research. And it was during my IE tenure that I ultimately decided to pursue research as a career. IE gave me the motivation to actually propose, design, and conduct experiments. Being in Dr. Monfils lab, meeting other IE students, and being in the IE program was the perfect storm of scientific inspiration. I think IE is a great program that really gives undergrads the taste of being a graduate student. It really did make a big impact on my life.”
